Adventures in Aspen

Last Tuesday, my mom, brother, and I flew out to meet the rest of our family in Aspen!! We take this trip every year to spend time with one another skiing/snowboarding, cooking, and exploring the city. This year, I decided to spend my time on the slopes snowboarding since I’ve been itching to learn something new. I had some practice during my previous trip to Big Bear earlier this year, but I still had to get used to being strapped to a single board for the first run down the mountain. My cousin-in-law, the only other person who boarded this trip, gave me lots of helpful pointers and I was pretty comfortable by the time we left. I think I will stick with this for the next couple of years and get even better!

For our lunches and dinners, we returned to some of our all-time favorites: Highlands Alehouse, White House Tavern, Matsuhisa, and Cache Cache (best escargots ever!). However, we also tried a new restaurant, Grey Lady, which had wonderful oysters and seafood bakes. It was fun reconnecting with my cousins from Singapore and talking about current events with the entire family. We only really get to do this once a year, and I’m extremely grateful that we all can take the time to make it to this trip. It’s been less than a week since being in Aspen, but I’m already itching to go back. I’ve never been during the summer before, so maybe I’ll be able to sneak in a side trip this year!
