Thanksgiving with Family and Friends

Only a few days after I got back from Hong Kong, it was already time for Thanksgiving break! School was officially out, but I still stopped by lab every day to catch up on work and restart some of the projects I had suspended while abroad. During the nights though, I was lucky enough to have multiple Thanksgiving dinners with my family and friends. On Wednesday, I hosted the entire Fall 2016 VGSA senate for dinner at my apartment in downtown. It was a lot of fun cooking and hanging out with everyone outside of an official setting. On Thursday, my entire extended family in LA went to my cousin’s house in West Hollywood for Thanksgiving. Although we all get together annually for this holiday, it was extra special this year since it was hosted by one of us from the younger generation.

On Friday, my mom cooked a separate turkey for a few of my friends that weren’t able to go home for Thanksgiving. Throughout the day, we also made classics like mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, cornbread muffins, and creamed corn. It was incredibly nice spending this extra time with my family and friends. I’m thankful that I get to go home any time I want, especially for special days such as this one. One of my resolutions this year is to cook more and host more dinners, so I need to plan one for when everybody returns from winter break! We’ll see how they go!
