On Saturday, the entire Viterbi Graduate Student Association Council, which includes five members of the executive board and all of the department senators, took a retreat to Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, CA.  Although I had been to this theme park many times before since I had an annual pass during my sophomore and junior years, many of the others had never even heard of this amusement park.  In fact, some of the senators had never even been on a roller coaster before.  Imagine their surprise after their first experience on X2 and Tatsu.  It was extremely fun showing them around and encouraging everyone to overcome their fears.

For lunch, I treated myself to a turkey leg since it’s not something I get to eat everyday while everybody else had either burgers or chicken strips.  Although we had split up into smaller groups to explore the park, we all somehow got back together around lunchtime and managed to take a group picture!  We completely blocked the background, but just imagine a little cart full of holiday goodies on it behind us.
