On January 29th, the Viterbi Graduate Student Association hosted its first signature event of the semester at Traditions and Tommy’s Place, the bar and grill located right on campus. Over 450 engineering PhD and Master’s students attended and the venue was packed! The line was massive behind the campus center, but we got as many in as we possibly could. Throughout the night, we served a variety of bar snacks for the students. People were going crazy over the hot wings, fries, sliders, and onion rings – we couldn’t keep up! Next time, we will have to better approximate the number of people who come out to make sure we have enough food to keep everyone happy!

All of the newly elected VGSA council members were also revealed that night! After three weeks of campaigning and voting, we finally settled on our new department and diversity senators – 22 of them in total. Over 1,000 of our graduate engineering classmates voted to choose their favorite student government officials. I cannot wait to work with all of them in coming up with awesome events and activities! This month, we will be hosting our annual soccer cup, so definitely keep an eye out on how to get involved and play on a team!
