Welcome back to school Trojans! This semester, I will be serving the Viterbi Graduate Student Association (VGSA) as the Vice President of Communications, and I’m so excited to plan some of our signature events. For the first three weeks, we will be running elections for the new generation of department and diversity senators. Each department will have a number of representatives relative to its size and population. For both Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, there are 5 allotted slots, while Aerospace and Mechanical and Industrial Systems Engineering have 2 each. We are hoping that many students will nominate themselves for the first round! The executive board will select the final candidates after applications close on January 20thand the students will be allowed to vote the following week!
For our first signature event, we will be hosting a welcome mixer for all students at Traddies, or Traditions Bar & Grill in the basement level of Ronald Tutor Campus Center on Friday, January 29th, 2016 from 7-10pm. This will be a great chance for students to meet their newly elected senators and give feedback and suggestions. VGSA exists to address the needs and concerns of all graduate engineering students and enhance the overall experience of being a part of USC. Hopefully I can contribute to that this semester!
