I sat up wide awake at 2:09 am when I very well knew that I had to be up early for college tomorrow. I tried to sleep battling insomnia. Nothing good happens after 2 am, I’ve heard somewhere. I thought why not? It’s been a while and it’s been a good time and it’s the memories of the last two weeks that has been keeping me up.

Travel is a joy and a love that I discovered in the last few years. A journey I made with friends turned out to be more than just a road trip, it had established a bond and the special moments that we had spent together would be cherished for the rest of my life. Two and a half days of laughter, food, mesmerizing places filled our hearts. As I sat across the beach on the tiny island I experiences bliss, freedom, happiness, adventure, a combination of feelings I’ve not had in a while. We joined hands to help each other through the smallest of things and we knew we would be there for each other forever.

Then I decided why not make a trip from there to surprise all my loves from college. It was so unlike me to do anything spontaneous and I decided to follow my heart this time and off I was to Bangalore. The look on their faces was enough when they walked in and saw me; the fatigue wore off. The sound of my friend’s voice on the other side of the phone brought tears to my eyes and then I realized how much I missed all of them and how I wished I could just sit with all of them just listening and laughing. This is when I realized my friends turned into family and I was so grateful for every choice I had made which led me to where I am today. Then to beautiful Manipal (my undergraduate college) where I again met a few close ones who I’m so thankful for taking care of me when I was there. I wished I could build a place in my heart and carry everyone around with me all the time and I do now.

After the painful farewell, my mother welcomed me with open arms and I experienced a pang of radiance when she saw me which is when I knew I was the luckiest daughter in the whole world.

I’m glad I listened to what I felt was right and for once before I made the trip I’m glad I listened to my heart.

Your soul is always where your heart is and by following my heart I re-discovered myself! I can’t wait to go back and experience this all over again!
