Biography

Eric Chung is an adjunct professor in the Information Technology Program (ITP) at the Viterbi School of Engineering. He has taught classes on blockchain development (ITP 356) and digital entrepreneurship (ITP 496, BAEP 496) since 2018. He has contributed to the creation of USC's Minor in Blockchain as well as USC's first fintech class, Fintech Fundamentals. He is also the founder and faculty advisor of Student Capital DAO, a milestone-based blockchain-powered fund that provides grants to student entrepreneurs.

Outside of USC, Eric has been active in the blockchain industry since 2016. He previously cofounded DApperNetwork, a blockchain developer bootcamp that scaled to 9 cities globally and trained nearly 400 software engineers, and Abridged, a no-code blockchain development platform. He also cofounded LA Blockchain Lab, a non-profit organization that bridges the private and public sectors to push blockchain initiatives forward in the city of LA. He has frequently organized developer meetups, conferences, and hack nights for the LA blockchain community. He is now part of the product team at Riiid Labs, an education AI startup that is bringing personalized learning to the masses. He received his bachelor's degree in Physics from University of California, Los Angeles. Go Bruins!!

Eric's interests lie at the intersection of incentive mechanisms, organizational design, and Web 3 technologies. He believes that community-led tokenized organizations (i.e. DAOs) will become increasingly common with the advancement of foundational technologies like blockchain and AI, and is excited to see more experiments like Student Capital DAO being done on campuses worldwide.
