Spring Offer - Guidelines and FAQ

Congratulations! Based on your strong academic background, you have been recommended for Spring 2022 admission.

The Viterbi School of Engineering offers admission to both the fall and spring term.

Due to the tremendous interest in our graduate programs from talented students around the world, it is not possible to accommodate all of the students we wish to admit for the fall semester.

Step 1

Please check your offer email and accept or decline the Spring 2022 Admission Offer by the deadline outlined below.

Step 2 (INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ONLY)

Submit your financial document. If you are an international applicant, you will need to submit a sufficient financial statement of support and a copy of your passport. We recommend that you submit your financial documents as soon as possible to be processed into your file.

If you have not already done so, you will need to submit sufficient financial statement of support and a copy of your passport. Your financial statement of support must have a date of January 1, 2021 or after. We recommend that you submit these documents as soon as possible to be processed into your file.

All financial documents for the Spring 2022 term must be submitted no later than October 22nd, 2021. Students submitting documents after October 22nd may experience delays receiving their statement of intent, I-20, and/or visa due to high processing volume at that time.

Your financial statement of support must be dated after January 1, 2021. If you submitted bank documents dated December 31, 2021 or before, you must submit new documents. Please submit scanned copies of the first two pages of your passport. Submit financial documents and copies of your passport to viterbi.documents@usc.edu with the subject “Spring 2022 Offer Financial Documents” and make sure to include your 10-digit USCID number. Spring 2022 Offer Timeline

June 30, 2021	Last day to accept or decline the Spring 2022 offer
August 1, 2021	Official and finalized decisions will be available in your youSC portal for applicants that accepted the Spring 2022 offer
Late September 2021	International students: USC will be issuing I-20's for Spring 2022
November 1, 2021	International students: Last day to submit proof of Financial Support documentation and passport copy
November 15, 2021	Last day to submit Statement of Intent and pay the $500 commitment deposit
January 10, 2022	Spring 2022 semester begins

FAQ

International Students entering the U.S. for Spring 2022: please note that new student visas can only be issued up to 120 days in advance of your program start date (January 10, 2022). Due to this restriction, the USC I-20 office will not begin processing I-20s for Spring 2022 until late-September. Please note, I-20s are issued once students pay the mandatory $500 commitment deposit and submit the Intent to Enroll. Once you have received your I-20 and obtained your F-1 visa, you may enter the United States in F-1 status no more than 30 days before your start date.

To be eligible for a CPT (Curricular Practical Training) internship, a student must complete at least 2 full-time semesters of coursework (a fall and spring semester, not necessarily in that order). Summers do not count toward eligibility, even if the student is enrolled in courses. Students who begin their Master's degree in Spring 2022 will be eligible for CPT the Spring of 2023. For those who are interested in employment during Summer 2022, there may be opportunities to work on campus.
