Brunch at the Blu Jam Cafe

December 14, 2016

If you’re staying in LA over the winter vacation and looking for good places to eat, have no fear. I will be providing a couple suggestions in my posts.

The delicious French toast you see above is from Blu Jam Cafe, a famous brunch haven on Melrose Avenue in west LA. Blu Jam is known for using local and organic ingredients in their lunch and brunch menu along with plenty of gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, and carnivorous options to satisfy all foodies. Its name comes from its historical location -Melrose Avenue was the home of many underground (secret) jazz clubs where legendary musicians like Miles Davis and Dizzy Gillespie jammed.

I savored my Rome Via Paris trip through scrambled eggs, grape tomatoes and fresh basil (pictured). My friends and I split their florentine benedict, a signature dish and were not disappointed. The ambience and the decor matched the quality of the food – superb. The only downside was a long wait (30 min).

Another great brunch spot is Home Restaurant in Los Feliz. It has outdoor seating so go on a warm day. However, that is its charm – the tables under a real, gigantic tree or next to a small, gurgling fountain give it a woodsy whimsy. It’s a sip of nature without the insects – look out for falling pine cones though!
