On Friday, we decided to make a trip to the Venice beach because we really needed a break from all the studying and assignments. So we packed our bags with snacks, sunscreen and a frisbee. A lot of the students, at least the spring admits, are not aware that USC has a bus that travels between campus and Marina Del Ray to drop off and pick up students from Information Sciences Institute.

We waited for the USC bus at the Vivian Hall stop and around 9:45 AM, we boarded the bus and left for Marina. After reaching Marina, we took uber to the Venice beach. It pretty close by and took us around 10 minutes to reach the boardwalk. There was some filming going on at the entrance of the boardwalk. We watched it for some time because it looked interesting. I think it was for a TV series. Later it was moved to the beach. Then we walked around and checked out few shops. I bought some awesome reflector shades because I’m in love with them.

Then we walked on the shore, watching the waves hit the rocks and the sunlight getting reflected by the water. It was so serene. This is exactly what I would love to do on every weekend. In fact, I would prefer a beach over all other places that I can visit. We took a lot of pictures and then we sat on the shore and relaxed for a long time. Then we ate our snacks. This is when we were almost attacked by seagulls. It was partly my fault because I was feeding tortillas to a seagull when all of a sudden around 9-10 seagulls came out of nowhere and started fighting for the tortillas. I freaked and threw whatever remaining tortillas I had in my hand. This made things worse so we ran from there to a different place on the shore. This an incident that I’ll never forget.

Then we played frisbee until we got really tired. We relaxed for a while and then walked to this place where I ate a delicious ice-cream sundae while watching some photoshoot going on there. By then it was around 4 pm, so we started heading towards ISI USC. We then boarded the USC bus which was going to take us back to the campus. Then to bookend the day in a nice way we had dinner at this place called the Himalayan House which is a restaurant that serves Nepalese, Indian and Tibetan food.

It was a nice day and I can’t wait to go back to the beach again.
