Boston Take 5!

It was the perfect end to my Summer’17 – a trip to Washington, D.C. and Newport, Rhode Island!

I had an amazing time in DC. I visited the National Museum of Natural History, United States Capitol, the White House and the Washington Monument. I was very happy that I got to do all touristy stuff on this trip. I have been to the natural history museum in LA but this one was very different. I wanted to visit the other museums too but due to lack of time, I was able to tour only this one and the Air and Space Museum. Both were spectacular. The natural history museum holds the Hope Diamond, which is a 45.52-carat blue-color jewel, originated in India. It was stunning. The other exhibits were great too. It took us around 4 hours to tour the entire museum.

After the museums, we ate at the popular food trucks in DC. We then took the mandatory photos in front of the White House, of course ;P The United States Capitol is an architecturally remarkable building too.

I also visited Georgetown. The town has its own charm, with the architecture, the cobblestone streets and the multitude of restaurants and designer stores. We spent an entire day there just walking down the streets and exploring the town. The following night we visited National Harbor in Maryland, where we had an amazing dinner at Bond 45. We then went to the casino at MGM Grand there and I tried my luck at the Craps table. It was a good start but eventually the hunger to win more made me lose everything that I bet. It was okay because that was the first time I actually gambled with real money. I had a lot of fun though.

Once I was back from D.C., I visited Newport, a city in Rhode Island. It is simply beautiful! I went on a 90-minute yacht cruise around the city too. The best part was the cliff walk that I did. It is literally a walk along the edge of the cliff overlooking the ocean. The view is mesmerizing! Newport is also famous for its grand mansions. I was marveled at their architecture, art and landscape. I visited The Breakers mansion, which is one of the grandest mansions there and is definitely a must-see!

This was definitely one of the most memorable moments of my summer in Boston.
