2018 SUMMER START PROGRAM

Congratulations! The Viterbi School of Engineering would like to provide you with an opportunity to get a head start on your MS degree through the 2018 Summer Start program. As you expressed interest in starting in the summer, you were selected to be a part of a small number of talented students to begin your M.S. program before the fall.
The Summer Start program is designed for Computer Science (all emphasis) majors.

As part of the Summer Start Program you will:

Start your M.S. Program early.
Complete (possibly) the M.S. degree in three semesters or 15 months.
Move to Los Angeles a few weeks before the start of the fall semester giving you more time to settle into the city.
Begin your MS program with a smaller cohort of peers.
Enjoy early access to faculty and other programs.

Next Steps

Step 1

Accept or decline as soon as possible your recommendation for admission to the 2018 Summer Start program. To accept or decline the offer you must complete the intent to enroll form at youSC.

Step 2

Submit your financial document. If you are an international applicant, you will need to submit a sufficient financial statement of support and a copy of your passport. We recommend that you submit your financial documents as soon as possible to be processed into your file.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Your financial statement of support must indicate proof of funding dated within 12 months of your intended first day of classes (May 2018 or later). Your passport verification must be a copy of the first two pages of your passport. Please make sure to submit as soon as possible and allow time for processing.

Please follow the instructions on AskUSC to submit your documents as attachments. Use the drop down menus to Select the Area: Graduate Admission Viterbi and the category Immigration Matters.
After we process these documents and make you an official offer of admission, then you will be able to submit your statement of intent form.

Step 3

Submit statement of intent and the $500 commitment deposit for the Summer 2018 term.

If you anticipate receiving any outside funding (scholarship, awards, and sponsorship) for the 2018-2019 academic year, we encourage you to contact the funding agency or representative directly to confirm if courses taken in summer 2018 can be covered. U.S. citizens and permanent residents who are receiving financial aid are encouraged to contact the Office of Financial Aid to discuss any funding options and implications to aid eligibility with a summer start.
