Westwood Invasion

September 22, 2016

A couple weeks ago, my friend invited me to go on a Westwood invasion. Many students showed up so it was a good crowd. We all dressed up in cardinal and gold, wearing USC gear, and hung out in Westwood, the neighborhood surrounding UCLA. We got delicious In ‘n Out burgers, where someone asked me “do you know what neighborhood you’re in?” when they saw me wearing USC gear. I laughed and replied “of course,” because we knew exactly what we were doing.

After fortifying ourselves with food, we swarmed their campus. After we walked around and noticed how much better our campus is from theirs (although I did like their large, green spaces), we took pictures in front of the UCLA mascot, the Bruin (a bear), and in front of the main quad.

We went the night before USC’s first football game of the season. UCLA starts later because they are on a quarter system, so we didn’t see many students on their campus. As an undergrad, I remember people invading Westwood during “Conquest,” which is the week of the big USC-UCLA rivalry football game and lots of events happen on SC’s campus. Doing an invasion then would be more spirited on both sides.

All jokes aside, both schools are great (but SC is just better) and our “invasion” was respectful but super fun!
