The Viterbi Graduate Student Association hosted their 2nd Annual Viterbi Alumni and Student mixer on Saturday, 24thSeptember 2016. It was their first signature event this year. The event was mainly centred around networking with the USC alumni who have landed into successful jobs/internships or have moved into pursuing PhD in their respective domains. The event commenced with the Social Mixer wherein everyone could talk to everyone and a lot of important contact information was exchanged. For many of us who are new here, several queries pertaining primarily to the jobs and internship scenarios were cleared. There were people from all disciplines and regardless of their disciplines they had everything worthwhile to talk about.
After the mixer, there were Panel sessions in the Kap Hall. These were particularly informative as the questions put to the panels had quite a breadth. From how to land into an internship to things about start-ups, job interviews, expanding your network, resumes and the common mistakes every newbie might commit; the discussions encompassed all.
This was followed by a round of delicious desserts in E-Quad where we could personally talk to the alumni and exchange contacts. Indeed a brilliant and illuminating event organised by VGSA!
