My First Quinceanera

Last week, one of my best friends, Natalie, invited a few of us to her younger sister’s quinceañera at their home. Around 100 people, mostly family and close friends, were there to celebrate her 15th birthday. Between all of the picture taking and congratulations, we enjoyed a lot of Nicaraguan food – plantains, chicharrones, pork ribs, carne asada, fried cheese, and more! While trying all of these dishes, we were serenaded by a mariachi band that played a number of classic songs. Mrs. Camacho even sang a few of the hits herself!

The Camacho family transformed their backyard into an incredible dining area framed with market lights, flowers, and pictures. They even had a dance floor set up with lights that synced with the music! We had lots of dessert and cake (each layer was a different flavor!), and ended up dancing and celebrating until 4am in the morning. Sarah’s quinceañera was such a great experience, and hope her nothing but happiness as she transitions into a year 16!
