On March 2nd, SparkSC hosted 2017’s first start-up career fair at E-Quad, USC from 10 am to 2 pm. Around 20 companies participated in the same. The area was packed with 100s of students from different branches, all with the same motive – connecting with their potential employers for Summer Internships or Full-time job opportunities. The participating companies were quite different from run-of-the-mill companies as they came up with unique, often bizarre, multidisciplinary concepts targeting students from different disciplines. As an information, the following companies were present: Tinder, Conversion Logic, Reefer, Autogravity, Dog Vacay, 17Hats, Kin community, TenoneTen, Shoes of prey, Peerstreet, PRAY, Flex, Magnopus, Lucky Day, Waive Car, Service, GuideMe, Window Shopper and Novel Way. You should definitely check these out! The concepts they proposed were really cool and unconventional. Most of these were looking for Computer Science graduates, but quite some of them also came for the sales and Marketing positions. Also, VR has been spreading its wings quite relentlessly these past few months and a lot of VR companies also participated. I spoke to around 5 companies of my interest and kinda liked their concepts. I’m still exploring the career opportunities in image processing and multimedia technologies and companies like these offer promising opportunities. There’s still a long way to go, I think.

P.S. These companies had cool ideas, but cooler swag!
