So, when you’re entering the 2nd semester of your grad studies, a clock goes off in almost every student’s head. Well, that is to find a great internship for the summer of course. Striving hard, printing out resumes, formals, coffee, etc. become an everyday phenomenon for every graduate student when they enter this phase. Likewise, I’m no different, I question my every move while applying. We want it all!! The good grades, the star internship, the dream job and well the best of friends to relax, enjoy life with.
Of course, this is entirely not impossible. They say college prepares you for your life ahead, believe me it’s true. It’s definitely teaching me how to manage my time now, balance my life and take care of myself. Recently, I decided to attend the LATech Fair 2017, it was a great experience all in all. The people I witnessed came from every age group, which taught me that it is never too late for change or never too late to start. Hope in every eye, hardwork emphasized in every word/move; After getting in, for the first time I got to see why California is called the tech capital sometimes. Every company/ start-up you could think of was there with their amazing recruiters baiting out talent and well people pitching themselves as well s grabbing the free goodies.
Snapchat, YouTube, Uber, Tinder, even our very own USC had its own booth. The lady we met at YouTube was so sweet and proud that she saw young women taking a chance in technology that she asked us to wait and handed out free YouTube earphones (Yayy!). To conclude, I’ve learnt that hope, hardwork, determination can take you a long way not only on a professional but even on a personal level!
