Two weeks ago, the Viterbi Graduate Student Association (VGSA) council met together for the last time at McKay’s and celebrated a semester filled with incredible Viterbi-wide and department-specific events. Serving the entire graduate engineering population (the largest group of graduate students at USC), we hosted over 30 professional, academic, and social events in the past year. In addition, we sponsored university-wide events, such as AIS Diwali and the Beyond the PhD Conference. The VGSA senators, who organize and plan all of these events on top of their classwork and extra-curriculars, were absolutely incredible this semester. All of the hard work culminated in VGSA winning the ‘Umbrella Organization of the Year’ award from the Graduate Student Government executive board!
During our meeting, we also voted on the leadership for the next school year. Effective May 16th, the VGSA Executive Board for the 2016-2017 academic year is as follows:
President – Joycelyn Yip
Executive Vice President – Vinay Piratla
Vice President of Communications – Yuta Ando
Vice President of Finance – Ranveer Ghatge
Vice President of Programs – Sneha Jose
Anthony Shao, the president for this past year, and I had our transition meeting a few days ago and I am excited to take over and continue his good work! We will be meeting over the summer and begin planning our signature events in the next few months, so keep an eye out for more information!!
