Yesterday, we organized a hike for the EE department students to Los Leones canyon. We left the campus at 8 AM and reached Los leones around 9 AM. We started the hike at 9:15 AM. It was a 7.6-mile hike and it took us a little over 3 hours to complete the trail. Some of the people on the group were hiking for the first time in Los Angeles. So they were really excited about the hike. We made stops at 2 places so students could relax and take some pictures. The view from the first checkpoint was beautiful. The weather was perfect because we left early and it was not very hot. To make sure our happy hikers stayed hydrated, we provided them with Gatorade sports drink and protein bars. After reaching the first checkpoint, we all took a lot of pictures and people were munching on their protein bars. We left from there after 20 minutes and continued to hike to the final checkpoint. The hike from there was a little steep. So it got harder but the view as we went up was only getting better. The valley, forest and the view of the entire beach were making it all worth it. We reached the top around 12 noon and we chilled out there for some time. We took a group picture just before leaving. We reached back the campus around 2:30 PM and everyone dispersed from there. I’m positive that everyone would have reached home and crashed on their beds because it was a pretty tough hike and that’s exactly what I did. This was my second time hiking in LA and I’m looking forward to more such hikes in the future. Besides, it’s not only a great way to make new friends but it’s also a great way to de-stress because it’s the finals season and everyone is working hard for their exams.
Thanks to Vishal Mahajan for the amazing pictures. 🙂
We had over 100 registrations for this hike but we could only take the first few people because of the bus capacity. But there is no need to stress because VGSA has more events coming for you. Until then … fight on!
