Three years ago, I was lucky enough to study abroad in Paris, France with the USC Viterbi School of Engineering’s Summer Overseas Program for seven weeks. Viterbi offers this opportunity to engineering undergraduates every summer to incredible cities in Europe, including Florence, Rome, London, Madrid, and of course, Paris. Because USC sends professors along with the students, we didn’t need to know the native language to go, which is often a requirement for other abroad programs! Each of us took two courses and got them out of the way. I studied Thermodynamics (AME310) and a required writing course for engineers (Writ340). We all lived in apartments spread out all over the city, and I roomed with two other girls pictured above, Stephanie and Christina!

During our time there, we visited a famous restaurant that specialized in steak frites, Le Relais de l’Entrecôte. Incredibly enough, they recently opened a branch in West Hollywood, so all three of us got together to have a mini reunion! They have a set menu, so we all munched on a salad and two servings of steak and fries. Their special sauce, which is reportedly made out of chicken livers, fresh thyme, cream, mustard, butter, and more, was simply delicious. We’re definitely going to make this an annual meet-up!
