Tech Fair LA 2018

March 9, 2018

Dear Reader, Welcome To My Blog!

I went to Tech Fair LA, the largest tech job fair in Los Angeles, on March 8 (Happy International Women’s day!). The event brought together LA’s top tech companies together for the second time since 2017. Companies were participating to recruit both entry-level and experienced workers. The event was held at Magic Box at the REEF (pretty close to USC campus) from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., hosted by Comparably, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, and the Annenberg Foundation.

Tech Fair LA hosted 250 diverse tech companies and more than 12000 attendees. There were many interesting breakout sessions and keynotes throughout the day by executives including the mayor’s keynote remarks. In addition, there were a variety of informative events for participants such as career advice panels, one-on-one coaching and small group sessions with tech executives.

As a Green Technologies MSc student having an undergraduate degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering, I was able to talk to quite a few companies. I learned about the available positions in the sector, different programs as well as other opportunities. I had fun at the event learning and meeting new people.

The event is free for job seekers; you can register via Eventbrite. Before you go to the next Tech Fair LA, it can be useful to check out the Tech fair content; which includes tips and lessons for preparing for the fair, preparing a resume, networking and pitching yourself to recruiters. See the following link for the courses: .  You do not need to be actively looking for a job to attend this event as it is a good opportunity to explore. Furthermore, panels and other sessions can give working individuals ideas on how to advance their careers too.

I highly recommend that you check out Tech Fair LA. Find the cool job you are looking for, explore the positions available in LA job market regarding your area, ask questions about the industry, learn, network and have fun!
