Front row seats!!
I absolutely Broadway shows. Ever since it won the Tony for Best Musical and Best Score, Dear Evan Hansen had been on my to-watch list, but after looking at some of the prices for the Los Angeles shows, I thought it best to hold off for a future tour. But crazily enough, my brother won free tickets after entering a daily lottery!
With less than 24 hours notice, we cleared up our schedules and headed to the Ahmanson Theatre eager to see the show. They had briefed us that our two seats may have an obstructed view or be separated; however, the ticket agent handed us our tickets and told us that we were smack in the center of the first row!
Even as we were heading to our seats, we couldn’t believe it. The stage was a few feet away, and since the band was located above the stage in the back, there was no orchestra pit that distanced us from the performers. It was seriously like watching a show in middle or high school, where our friends were right in front of us. We could see every expression, every tear.
It was the most incredible experience. We couldn’t stop smiling the entire play! Tickets are already sold out for Costa Mesa, but definitely try to grab a ticket the next time they’re in town. It’s a wonderful story, extremely relevant to current times. In the meantime, enjoy the soundtrack! I, for one, will be streaming it for weeks.
