The University Forum

March 11, 2019

I am so fortunate to consistently work with people who have such an immense love of and passion for USC. These individuals not only have a fundamental role in continuing the best and brightest parts of the university, but they are also constantly churning out new initiatives and projects to address ongoing issues or improve the current systems and resources. One of these joint developments is the University Forum, which President Wanda Austin announced last week.

Organized by the Trojan Council – the Presidents of the Academic Senate, Staff Assembly, and Undergraduate and Graduate Student Governments, the University Forum will be a 90-minute session where constituents from any of our four populations (faculty, staff, undergrad and grad students) can discuss matters that are central to the mission of the university. The two topics we chose center on the following:

  1. How can the university balance its goal of controlling tuition increases with its goal of providing a top-tier educational experience to the USC community?
  2. How do we care for our entire USC community, both inside and outside the classroom?

These questions are important to and impact anyone who is a Trojan, so the University Forum provides the opportunity to discuss issues that are critical to USC. All four governing bodies and members of the administration are participating in this event, so please join us on Tuesday, March 19th, 2019 from 4-5:30pm at the Ronald Tutor Campus Center Ballroom (UPC) and the Aresty Auditorium (HSC). Confirm your attendance online at usc.edu/esvp (code: forum) by Friday, March 15th.

Let us all take time to learn from each other, better understand how one group’s wants may impact another group, and discuss the best ways to advance the mission of the university together.
