Family Dinner at Madeo

August 17, 2019

This last Wednesday kicked off over a month of birthday celebrations for my family in Los Angeles. Almost every year, the late August to mid October stretch brings along with it weekly dinners at some of our favorite spots in town. For the kick-off this round, we started at Madeo! Because their original spot on Beverly Boulevard is currently under construction, they set up shop right on Camden Drive in the heart of Beverly Hills. Even though we were in a ritzier part of the city, they were able to keep their old-school Italian vibe that we love so much.

If you’re a fan of pastas, Madeo is an absolute gem. The classics (spaghetti alla Bolognese, linguine al pesto, penne with tomato and basil) are must-haves since they are so simple, yet deeply satisfying. Their more unique ones, such as their linguine alle vongole (baby clams), spaghetti alla bottarga (dried roe), and ravioli di vitello alle noci (walnut sauce), are extremely special and delicious. Since it is hard to choose just one dish, we usually order a whole bunch and they’ll split it for us! I truly love everything they offer and treasure each time I get to eat there.

For any special occasions, try Madeo! They should be back in their original location in about a year or so, but if you’d like to celebrate happy news or treat your parents, visit them in Beverly Hills. You might even spot a celeb when you’re there!
