Pedaling Swan Boats at Echo Park Lake

September 4, 2019

About a year ago, swan-shaped pedal boats were introduced to Echo Park Lake, making it a wonderful hidden gem close to DTLA. My cousin, mom, and I took our 2-year-old niece to play on the open water in the last few days of summer and it was so delightfully fun. Open year-round, seven days a week from 9am to sunset (the boats light up at night!), these swan boats are an extremely accessible activity for people of all ages.

We thought we would have to wait in line for a long time since we went on a Saturday, but we were able to grab a boat pretty quickly. Since most of the boats fit 5 people, we had a bit of extra space to lounge about. It was pretty hot that day, but thankfully the boat had a canopy that shaded us from the blinding sun. Our niece had a lot of fun directing us were to go and saying hi to the real ducks and turtles around the lake. We all had a wonderful time, and I’m looking forward to taking more of my nieces and nephews to this neat attraction!
