Pete Buttigieg at USC!

March 5, 2020

Two weeks ago, Mayor Pete Buttigieg visited USC and took part in a town hall hosted by the USC Dornsife Center for the Political Future, Fox11, and the USC Political Student Assembly! Speaking to a crowd of 1,200 students, staff, faculty, and community members, Mayor Pete broached many of his platform points and answered questions from USC students.

While he spent some time distancing himself from the other Democratic candidates still in the race, Mayor Pete called for unity and acknowledged that 2020 is “our only shot to beat Donald Trump.” Although many criticize him for calm demeanor and lack of animation, I was actually impressed with how he presented himself and his personality.

As of this past weekend, Mayor Pete has officially ended his campaign for president; however, I hope that he continues championing his policies and ideas in the following decades. It was an absolute honor to see him on campus – I can’t wait to see who else will stop by in the coming months!
