SC is known widely for its gorgeous beaches and so, my flatmates and I, decided on exploring the Santa Monica. We took an Uber from the Portland Street. It held the road nicely, almost did doughnuts at times as we sped to finally arrive at the beach.
What I saw after getting down the Uber was a tangerine sky in extreme contrast to the deep oceanic blue. We took our shoes in our hands and ambled across the sands to reach the beach. There were people of all ages gleefully clad in vibrant colors. Right along the stairs that took us down to the sands, there was a group of artists playing some amazing music, I can’t really word it out, but it sounded much like ‘Rude’ by Magic! It set the frolicsome mood for all of us. We walked along the coast for a good amount of time, got a little inside the waters though I really get grossed out by the slimy flora that sticks to my feet in that water. The wet sand was pleasant to the feet and we actually had a really amazing time together.
Having spent a considerable time there, we headed towards the iconic Santa Monica Pier. As we walked through, I came across the Bubba-Gump Shrimp Company and things kind of changed in my head. I actually stopped there, gazed at the spot for a while and it felt amazing to be seeing it for real, as the movie ‘Forrest Gump’ is a little personal to me. It actually kinda made the day memorable for me. As we walked past it, there were still more interesting things in store for us. Especially, at every 20 steps or so (I take short steps, thanks to my cute height) there would be a yet another artist with a completely eccentric appearance and a still new song. There were several upscale eateries with amazing food. At the end of the pier, there were benches where we could sit, or just lean on to soothe ourselves with the vast expanse of the largest ocean in the world! Beside us, were a group of young artists playing romantic songs on request. We had some food, talked about our lives and bonded there. I took some time out, fixated at the depths of the waters and did the much needed introspection. The waters amaze me always and rejuvenate me to my core. The tangerine of the sky finally transcended into darkness and we headed back to our place with a promise of coming there again.
