A weekend off…

My friends and I started a yearly tradition of making the drive up to Big Bear sometime in late February or early March to see the beautiful snowy views and go on a hike. This weekend we added one more trip to the tradition’s tally! If you haven’t been to Big Bear, you should know that it should probably be named “Big Lake” instead. It’s a small town that is home to a few skiing/snowboarding resorts, some great hiking, and a fairly large lake (about 15 miles around, or so). The plan for this weekend was to hike up the Castle Rock trail and then grab lunch and head home. Our plan was almost immediately foiled because the trail was too steep and slippery to traverse. So we decided to hike around the lake instead. It was a much easier hike, but still a lot of fun. Here’s some pictures:

And of course a picture of the Fight On fingers next to the bear statue, just in case anyone thought us Trojans are too closely associating ourselves with the mascot of the school-across-town 😉
