What better way to take a break from the hectic schedule at USC than going on a vacation? Traveling is the best stress buster. Greece, known for its architectural beauty and scenic islands was definitely one of my best holidays ever.

Athens, as called the heart of Ancient Greece, still preserves the prehistoric structures like Acropolis and the Temple of Olympian Zeus, among others. It is home to the Panathenaic Stadium, where the first modern Olympics were held in 1896. You can enter the stadium, run along the tracks, stand on the podium and experience what it feels like to be an Olympian. Seeing this stadium is a must. Walking up to the Acropolis and looking at the remains of the most famous, Parthenon, was an amazing sight.

Mykonos, an island in Greece, is famous for its beaches and vibrant nightlife. Since it is a really small island and easy to drive through, we rented cars and visited few of its best beaches. You can call it “beach-hopping.” 😛 From the calm Kalafatis beach to the happening Ornos beach and finally to the Paradise and Super Paradise beaches, where we partied and danced till the break of dawn. Mykonos also has a ‘Little Venice’ that has restaurants and bars on the edge of the sea. A nice place to calmly view the sunset and one of the island’s iconic landmarks – the five, 16th-century windmills.

Our next stop was the most popular island in Greece – Santorini, known to everyone for its white churches with blue domes. The most fun thing to do in Santorini is cruising in the Mediterranean Sea in their luxurious yachts. You get to see the red sand beach, the active volcano, and natural hot springs but the most exciting part – jumping into the sea and swimming! Even though the water is cold, it is an unforgettable experience. Santorini also has the tastiest Greek food and great wine.

Crete, another island in Greece was our final stop. Elafonissi beach, one of Europe’s best beaches was definitely a perfect ending to our trip. The splendid colors of the sea along with pink sand were a soothing sight. You can spend hours feeling wonderful on this beach. A small restaurant in the Heraklion city of Greece, called ‘Cooking with Love’ made us fall in love with Greek food all over again. My favorites were all the Greek salads with different dressings.

These ten days spent in Greece were undeniably wonderful. So anytime you guys plan a vacation to Greece, you can check these out to incur a complete and relaxed experience.
