A visit to the Universal Studios, Warner Bros. Studios, Coldplay concert and the Ellen DeGeneres show; starting this semester with a BANG!

Being able to go on every ride at the Universal Studios without having to wait in long queues made the visit perfect. The Despicable Me Minion Mayhem was a hilarious and fun-filled 3-D ride. The best part of the Jurassic Park ride was the narrow escape from the T-Rex towards the end when the raft plunges 84-feet down into the water. The Revenge of the Mummy ride had frightening special effects and took place in near darkness. It was a short but a great ride. The Transformers 3-D ride with its amazing flight simulation technology was an entirely different experience. The Walking Dead attraction made us scream through the top of our lungs and run out as fast as we could. The Studio Tour was like a behind-the-scenes moment where you explore the most famous backlots of Hollywood. Finally, came the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, where you get to see the Triwizard Spirit Rally, in which the Hogwarts, Beauxbatons and Durmstrang students display their enthusiasm for the Triwizard Tournament. My favorite was the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey – one of the best rides I went on.

The best studio tour in Hollywood? Undoubtedly, the Warner Bros. Studio tour. It feels amazing to be able to explore the outdoor sets and soundstages where the most famous productions are created. You get to access a building with millions of original props and get to see the Batcave where all the incredible Batmobiles used in the series are displayed. DC Universe: The Exhibit showcases all the seven superheroes of ‘Justice League,’ original props and costumes from ‘Suicide Squad’ along with other DC comics highlights. We were able to visit the Harry Potter exhibit too where you can see the authentic props and costumes used in the Harry Potter movies and also let the Sorting Hat sort you into a house. I got Gryffindor! 😀 We were also taken into the soundstage of The Big Bang Theory but unfortunately were not allowed to click any photos. The tour ended with us visiting the real Central Perk set! That was a cherry on the cake.

Can anything be better than going to the Coldplay concert on your birthday? The Coldplay concert at the Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena was a perfect end to my birthday and an impeccable start to the new semester. The stadium was lit with excitement. My first concert in LA and one of the best and most scintillating concerts I have ever been to. Grooving to their music and singing along to Fix You, Hymn for the Weekend, Paradise, A Sky Full of Stars and others made it a delightful evening.

Who better than Ellen DeGeneres to make you laugh while you are struggling to solve your never-ending and mind-boggling assignments? Even though we weren’t able to make it to the live audience due to standby tickets, we got to see her show and enjoy every moment of it. And with Jimmy Kimmel and Scott Eastwood on her show, our excitement level had no bounds. We won a #imatellen t-shirt for our dancing moves and also got guaranteed tickets for another taping of her show.

My first month at USC has been crazy. I indeed made some unforgettable and picture-perfect memories.
