This year’s annual Viterbi Engineering Career Fair happened last Wednesday from 10am-3pm on Trousdale Parkway. It featured companies recruiting students from all engineering disciplines and degree levels. This professional event helped connect students with corporate representatives and strengthened the bond between USC and local businesses. Many internship, co-op, and full-time employment opportunities are shared at fairs like this one. It is not unusual for top talent to get follow-up interviews or offers in the weeks after these types of recruiting events.
For the biomedical engineers, there were a handful of companies that are based in the medical device area. Industry giants such as Abbott Laboratories, Edwards Lifesciences, and Johnson & Johnson were advertising their unique internship and leadership development programs, while consulting firms like Accenture, Deloitte, and Hitachi emphasized the need for creative problem-solvers. Although there are always a lot fewer BME-related companies than CS or EE ones that are in attendance, students can still apply to positions outside of their main focus area. Everyone should take advantage of these fairs and broaden their networks!
